5 December 2023 – ITMA ASIA + CITME concluded successfully on 23 November 2023 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai. The five-day combined exhibition featured an exciting showcase of textile machinery from the entire manufacturing value chain. It attracted the strong participation of textile professionals eager to explore the latest automation and sustainable technologies.
The eighth combined exhibition welcomed visitorship of 100,000 from 105 countries and regions. Local Chinese visitors from 31 provinces and cities formed the largest group of visitors, followed by India, Taiwan, South Korea, Bangladesh and Iran.
Visitors from outside mainland China accounted for more than 13 per cent of the visitors. There was a significantly higher number of overseas delegations, including more than a dozen large buyer groups, compared with previous editions.
Exhibitors at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2022 were impressed by the turnout. Mr Georg Stausberg, CEO of the Polymer Processing Solutions Division and Chief Sustainability Officer of the Oerlikon Group, said: “We can look back on a successful show where we were able to meet many of our customers, not only from China, but also from Pakistan, India and Indonesia.”
More than 1,500 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions took part in the exhibition which grossed over 160,000 square metres. Many local and international brand names staged product launches which were well received by visitors.
Mr Fritz Legler, Textile Marketing Officer of Stäubli, commented: “We enjoyed a tremendous level of high-quality customer traffic at our booth. Our automation technology in warp preparation, the latest generation of shedding solutions for high-speed weaving machines, as well as carpet weaving systems have found the acclamation of our Chinese and international customers.”
Mr Cédric Schlicher, Director, Fil Control, also acknowledged: “What an exciting moment for us to be back in Shanghai for ITMA Asia! The show was beyond our expectations and it allowed us to meet our partners in China and to build relationships with new ones.”
Show owners, CEMATEX, together with its Chinese partners – the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China International Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC) were elated at the results of the combined exhibition.
According to the show owners, the high-quality showcase by two established ITMA and CITME textile machinery exhibition brands have contributed to the success. The extensive outreach programmes to more than 300 business associations and industrial clusters, media partnerships, roadshows and other promotional programmes have also yielded positive results.
The next ITMA ASIA + CITME exhibition will be held from 14 to 18 October 2024 at the NECC Shanghai. It is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co., Ltd. and co-organised by ITMA Services.

5 September 2023 – ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024 space application is now open. Asia’s leading business platform for textile machinery, the ninth combined show will be held from 14 to 18 October 2024 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, Shanghai, China.
According to show owners, CEMATEX (European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers), the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC), the launch of space application for the 2024 exhibition ahead of this year’s combined exhibition in November is an exceptional procedure.
The regular biennial sequence of the ITMA Asia + CITME exhibition was disrupted due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. Originally slated for 2022, the exhibition had to be rescheduled to 2023. The ITMA Asia + CITME exhibition uniquely combines the Asian edition of the renowned ITMA exhibition with the China International Textile Machinery Exhibition (CITME). Over the past eight editions, it has established a stellar track record and holds significant importance within the textile and machinery industry.
Mr. Ernesto Maurer, president of CEMATEX, explained, “the planning of the 2024 edition of ITMA Asia + CITME requires an exceptional process, starting already ahead of this year’s edition in November 2023. The exhibition has a stringent admission policy which encompasses various processes, including various stages of space application, rigorous admission procedures, space allocation, and thorough booth design vetting. Considering the multifaceted aspects involved in these preparatory stages, and above all, to safeguard the quality of the 2024 edition of ITMA Asia + CITME, the stand space application must open well ahead of the show in October 2024.”
In continuation of this approach, the organisers have launched the space application for ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 before ITMA Asia + CITME 2022 takes place this November. This step allows both the organisers and potential exhibitors to begin plans for the ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 exhibition.
Mr. Gu Ping, president of China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA), emphasised, “China's textile industry has reached a high-quality stage, with the world's highest demand for continuous, automated, intelligent, eco-friendly, and scalable textile machinery. I believe the launch of ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 as scheduled next year, will be a highly anticipated event to foster greater collaboration and exchanges between domestic and foreign textiles industries, working together to shape the future. Therefore, our commitment is to uphold this biennial exhibition schedule.”
Online space application for the 2024 edition will close on 13 March 2024. Successful applicants will receive their admission certificate and be notified of their stand space by 23 May 2024. Interested exhibitors may visit www.itmaasia.com or email itmaasiacitme@itma.com for more details.
ITMA ASIA + CITME 2022, which was scheduled to be held last November, will open on 19 November 2023 in Shanghai. To-date, it has attracted close to 1,500 exhibitors.
ITMA ASIA + CITME is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co Ltd and co-organised by ITMA Services. Japan Textile Machinery Association is a special partner of the show.

4 July 2023 – ITMA ASIA + CITME, Asia’s leading business platform for textile machinery, continues to draw interest for its exhibition which has been rescheduled to take place from 19 to 23 November 2023 in Shanghai. To-date, over 1,400 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions have applied to take part in the combined exhibition.
Six exhibition halls of the National Convention and Exhibition Center grossing over 160,000 square metres have been booked, according to the show owners - CEMATEX and its Chinese partners, the Sub-Council of the Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC).
Exhibitors are also buoyant about prospects as China’s economy is projected to be performing better than expected. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently revised its forecast for China's GDP growth upwards to 5.2% in 2023 from its previous projection of 4.4% last October.
“The reopening of China's economy is pivotal for the region as China is a key driver of the expansion. Such positive news has helped textile machinery manufacturers to rebuild their confidence in the China market,” explained Mr Ernesto Maurer, President of CEMATEX, which owns the ITMA and ITMA ASIA exhibitions.
He added: “We salute our exhibitors for keeping faith with us. Not only have they not withdrawn their participation, some have even increased their booth space. We have also received a steady stream of enquiries from new applicants.”
Mr Gu Ping, President of China Textile Machinery Association, further commented: “Compared with the previous combined exhibition, the number of exhibitors in this edition has increased by 15 per cent. We welcome the presence of these new enterprises as they will add to a more diverse showcase of the technological innovation, and provide new vitality and impetus for the development of the textile industry.”
Many exhibitors have also increased their booth space after China eased its strict COVID rules and reopened its borders earlier this year. Among the exhibitors who have increased their space since the Chinese government’s announcement early this year are Muratec, Saurer, Savio, TMT Machinery and Trützschler.
Mr Harald Schoepp, Managing Director of Trützschler China, said, “We have decided to enlarge our booth space because our outlook for the Chinese market is very positive and we expect more overseas visitors now. We are going to present Trützschler’s latest machinery and solutions for the spinning, nonwoven and man-made fibre industries.”
The combined show is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co., Ltd and co-organiser ITMA Services. Online visitor registration is now open. To register or for more information, please visit www.itmaasia.com.
